Overview

Please follow the system requirements specified herein to successfully install and run Adept Servers and Clients for the WINTER '25 (11.4.0) release.

System Requirements Overview

Welcome to the System Requirements page for the WINTER '25 (11.4.0) release. This guide outlines the components and specifications needed to successfully install and run Adept Servers and Clients in your environment.

Whether you're setting up a production system or a sandbox for testing, following these requirements will help ensure optimal performance and stability.

Required Components for a Complete Installation

A fully functional Adept server-side installation includes the following:

  • Adept Native Server

  • Adept Web Server

  • Adept Database instance

  • At least one supported vaulting method for managing files

To enable full administrative functionality, the Adept Desktop Client must be installed on:

  • The Adept Native Server

  • One or more additional computers, depending on your user and integration needs

Additional components that may be part of a complete Adept environment include:

  • Desktop Clients

  • CAD Integrations

  • Web Clients

  • Mobile Clients

Licensing Requirements

A valid Serial Number and Authorization Code are required to activate and operate the Adept Native Server.

New customers must obtain a Serial Number and Authorization Code from Synergis Software to serialize the Adept Native Server.

Existing customers may continue to use their current Serial Number and Authorization Code, provided the authorization has not expired and remains valid for the deployed Adept version.

Authorization Codes are available through a Customer Success Manager, Account Manager, or via the Request Auth Code option in the Customer Portal.

For this release, (11.4.0), no new Authorization Codes are required when upgrading from 11.3.3. Speak to your Customer Success Manager if you are upgrading from an earlier release.

Processor and Hardware Recommendations

Each section that follows will list the Minimum and Recommended processor clock speeds. For best results, we strongly recommend using hardware that meets or exceeds the Recommended specifications.

Keep in mind:

  • Minimum specs may be sufficient for sandbox or lightly used environments.

  • Processor age matters: Systems with CPUs older than 3 to 5 years should be upgraded to newer models for improved performance and compatibility.

  • Adept applications do not support ARM-based processors.

GPU Considerations

To support rendering operations in Adept Viewer (used by Reviewer and Explorer users), we strongly encourage installing a GPU on your Adept Web Server. Without a GPU, rendering tasks will fall back to the CPU, which may impact performance.

Notable Changes since Adept WINTER '24 (11.3.3)

Supported Operating Systems

Windows Server 2025 is now supported and included in the subsequent pages that describe Adept Servers.

Due to Microsoft's end-of-life for Windows 10, Adept will no longer support this operating system.

GPU Recommendations

As mentioned in the previous section, a GPU is strongly encouraged for your Adept Web Server. The new Appendix 1 includes GPU recommendations.

Prerequisites

  1. Synergis will no longer prepare and distribute the Prerequisites Package, which was previously available to customers. Unfortunately, unique circumstances in many customer environments rendered this package more problematic than time-saving. We suggest exploring software deployment tools instead.

  2. The Integration Manager is no longer required. Any previous installations of Integration Manager may be removed when upgrading systems to Adept WINTER '25 (11.4.0).

  3. Updates to Adept client applications now require Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.21 or later, in addition to Microsoft ASP.NET Core Hosting Bundle 8.0.21 or later. Please note that these prerequisites are not interchangeable.

Deprecations

  1. As part of ongoing product refinement, the KeyCreator integration has been deprecated to better align with current user needs. If you have concerns or rely on this integration, we encourage you to contact your Adept Customer Success Manager or reach out directly to our Product Management Team.

  2. With the successful transition to the Adept Viewer, which began with the FALL ’22 release, the Markup Conversion Utility, an Adept Desktop Client plugin, has been deprecated in the WINTER '25 release. This utility was designed to convert legacy markups from the previous Oracle AutoVue Viewer. Customers have been provided the opportunity to make this transition in previous Adept releases. We encourage all users to explore the rich viewing, markup, and collaboration features now managed directly within the unified and modern Adept Viewer environment.

System Requirements Online

You’re now viewing our System Requirements in a more streamlined, web-based format—part of our ongoing effort to make technical content easier to access, navigate, and apply. Over time, more of our documentation will transition to this format to provide a better user experience. We hope this enhanced approach supports your work, and we welcome your feedback. For easy access in the future, we recommend bookmarking the main documentation landing page, which links to this and other online resources.

Adept Qualified Comment

Adept works with a variety of software and applications, including database engines, email systems, FTP servers, and operating systems. Adept has been tested and qualified using specific versions and components most used by our customers. Consequently, we can verify that Adept works with these components. However, It is impossible to test and qualify every possible version, brand, type, or combination of components that customers may use. Typically, when customers implement Adept in an environment that contains an untested component, they find that Adept works correctly — but not always. If incompatibilities are found, please bring them to our attention. At our discretion, we may attempt to get Adept running with that component, or we may recommend installing and using a supported component instead.

If you have questions about whether a particular component has been qualified with Adept, please contact your Synergis Account Manager. Chat with Sales.
