Adept Server Overall Requirements
General Deployment Guidance
Adept Server requirements vary based on your implementation scope and usage patterns.
Virtual machine platforms are supported if Adept’s system requirements are met or exceeded.
Adept Server Software is not supported on machines running Microsoft Exchange Server or on primary or backup Domain Controllers.
Performance may degrade if Adept Server Software and the Database Engine are not on the same local network segment.
Adept Servers and the SQL Database Engine benefit from multi-core and hyper-threaded CPUs, which improve throughput and responsiveness across all deployment configurations.
Synergis recommends using a separate logical partition for Adept data and software, distinct from the operating system:
Operating System: ~100 GB (e.g., C: drive)
Adept Components: ~150 GB (e.g., D: drive - excluding vaulted data)
Data Growth Planning: Allocate for 20–25% annual growth

Single vs. Multi-Server Environments
Many customers deploy the Adept Native Server, File System, and Web Server on a single machine — referred to as a Single-Server Environment. In this configuration, hardware requirements are cumulative, resulting in higher overall resource needs than those listed for individual components.
In Multi-Server Environments, where Adept Servers and the database engine are hosted on separate machines, it’s important to ensure high-speed connectivity between servers to support the high volume of transactions.
Disk Space and Backup ConsiderationsThe following items are stored on designated servers. Because storage needs depend heavily on how your organization uses the system, they can’t be estimated in general terms. Our team is available to help you review your environment and plan for the right amount of storage. |

Notes: These items must be backed up regularly, with both timing and retention determined by your organization’s business needs and risk profile. Viewing Inventor IDW and SOLIDWORKS SLDDRW files will require significant disk space for caching. This optional Archive Database stores Audit Trail records exported by an administrator from the Active Database. These logs can grow very large and must be maintained regularly to prevent storage issues. (This is a routine task for IT administrators.) |
