Autodesk Update Advisory: .NET 10 Updates and AFS Vaults

:info:

Applicable Adept Releases: Winter '25 (11.4.0) and Spring '26 (11.4.5)

Intended Audience: Customers and administrators using the Adept integrations for AutoCAD or Inventor with AFS Vaults

Last Update:

If you use AFS vaults with the Adept integrations for AutoCAD or Inventor, do not install the Autodesk updates listed below.

Summary

Autodesk has released service packs for 2025 and 2026 products that change the version of Microsoft .NET used inside the application. After you install these updates, the Adept Task Pane running inside AutoCAD or Inventor can no longer communicate with Adept File Server (AFS) vaults.

Who is affected

You are affected if you use the Adept Task Pane in AutoCAD 2025 or 2026 or Inventor 2025 or 2026 with an AFS vault.

What is not affected

FTP vaults, Direct vaults, the Adept desktop client, and AutoCAD 2024 and Inventor 2024 and earlier are not affected.

Updates to avoid

Do not install this update and all later updates, service packs, and hotfixes for that product year, on machines that use the Adept integrations with an AFS vault:

The 2026 updates were released in early August 2026, and the 2025 updates in mid-September 2026, so some systems may already have received them. We recommend that your IT team review any automatic-update settings for Autodesk products.

How to verify and manage Autodesk updates

To check whether an Autodesk update has already been installed:

  • In AutoCAD or an AutoCAD toolset, type ABOUT at the command line, or select the Help menu in the upper-right corner and choose About. Check the displayed product version or build number against the updates listed above.

  • In Inventor, open the Help menu in the upper-right corner, choose About Autodesk Inventor, and check the displayed version or build number against the updates listed above.

  • In Autodesk Access, open the Autodesk Access app from the Windows system tray or Start menu and review the installed products and updates shown there.

To reduce the chance of these updates being installed automatically:

  • On individual workstations, open Autodesk Access and review its update settings and notifications before applying any AutoCAD or Inventor updates.

  • For managed environments, IT administrators should review Autodesk Access deployment and update controls, including any settings that allow users to install updates themselves.

Errors you may see

After installing an update that includes .NET 10, opening a file or assembly from the Task Pane fails with "Unable to locate file" unless the file is already in your local work area.

If you have already installed an update

Please contact Adept Support and reference this advisory. Removing the Autodesk update is not expected to resolve the issue, and Autodesk generally requires a product reinstall to roll back an update, so please speak with us before attempting it.

What's next

We are continuing to investigate and will publish more information as it becomes available, including additional detail on scope and planned next steps. We will update this advisory as we learn more.
